First of all, thanks to UK for putting this together and bringing it to our attention.
Lexingtonians know full well the massive impact that UK has on this city. It is Lexington’s largest employer and its effect on providing an educated workforce to help us attract employers simply can’t be overstated.
Taking a step back, do we really recognize how much of an impact the University of Kentucky has on the commonwealth as well? Take a look at these:
The University of Kentucky is also the state’s largest employer (KY state government notwithstanding), would be Kentucky’s 6th largest city, and the 9th largest company. It is easy to cheer for the Wildcats when it comes to football and basketball, but let’s give a cheer for all the other great things the University has given Lexington and Kentucky.
